Today marks the globally celebrated Earth Day event and our first annual blogathon to raise awareness of serious environmental issues and hopefully spur new conversations—and ideally action. Today, in honor of this year’s Earth Day 2011: A Billion Acts of Green and our environment, we will be posting a new blog authored by a guest writer every hour, on the hour.
And just who are our guest writers, you ask? We invited authors and advocates, members of the media, researchers and analysts, lawyers and policy makers, and clean technology executives from around the globe to join our event and contribute a blog post addressing an important environmental concern of their choosing. We are proud to say the response was tremendous, and we can hardly wait to share their thoughts with you today.
Our writers contributed viewpoints and opinions on an array of local, national and global topics—what they define as the most serious environmental risk to our planet, policies and legislation needed to secure our environment, the future of renewable energy, cap and trade, and even “green fatigue.” So be sure to check back often today, or follow us on Twitter to stay updated on new hourly posts.
Feeling inspired? You can further support the environment by attending a free Earth Day event in your area—there are hundreds to choose from on this list, pledging your own personal act of green—see the most popular ideas from around the world, or simply sharing your favorite blogathon posts with colleagues, friends and family.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our guest bloggers who took the time to share their thoughts, and we hope our event educates and inspires our readers to treat every day like Earth Day.
Happy Earth Day,
