Environmental Earth Radio

It’s not as sexy as Howard Stern, but environmental news is gaining popularity on the air waves

What’s been the best invention in the last 5 years? I’m hard-pressed to think of a better one than Satellite Radio. For over a year now, I’ve been a serious Sirius Satellite subscriber. For just $.43 cents / day, I have over 125 channels; 68 devoted to commercial-free music, plus over 57 channels of news and talk (oh, and sports for when my husband’s in the car).

As I was thumbing through my plethora of station choices, I came across Sirius’ LIME radio (Channel 114) and listened to a great program called Good Company. The show is dedicated to companies “trying to do the right thing” in corporate social responsibility matters including the environment and environmental sustainability.

Hey, maybe it’s not as sexy as Howard Stern, but environmental news is slowly getting more exposure in mainstream society. And let’s face it – you can only read so many environmental magazines as an EHS professional. Listening to the radio is a refreshing way to get the latest environmental news and thought leadership from top businesses.

The program times for Good Company on Sirius LIME radio (Channel 114) are:

Premieres:
Thursdays 7PM EST
Encores:  Saturdays Midnight, Noon; Sundays 4PM EST

As for the Luddites out there who are still on terrestrial radio, give Satellite a chance.  Get some decent programming and zero commercials.  Isn't your time worth a few pennies?
