Bayer, BASF Among First to sign Responsible Care Global Charter

A promising step forward in environmental responsibility for the chemical industry

It’s a very good sign to see some of the largest companies in the chemical and health care industry addressing environmental concerns and social responsibility.

Yesterday, Bayer and BASF were the first to sign the Responsible Care Global Charter, which is aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of chemical development.

These two German-based companies with big subsidiaries in the US will surely set the standard on how their chemicals are developed, processed, and safely handled in Europe as well as in the rest of the world.  And w
ith BASF and Bayer each earning over $40 billion a year in sales, I’m glad to see they are setting a good environmental example for other big businesses to follow.

The Responsible Care Global Charter summarizes the new tenets of the global chemical industry's Responsible Care initiative launched in 1985 to promote continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance. Full text of the Responsible Care Global Charter can be downloaded here.
