| February 17, 2006 | | Read the top 6 benefits of "Software as a Service" (SaaS) or “On Demand? technology | It’s always reassuring when other experts agree with your opinions, especially when they rave about a technology that serves as the platform of your business model. Case in point: Software as a Service (SaaS) -- also known as “on-demand”.
In January, we blogged how the "Software as a Service" technology is ushering in the Customer Era. The author of the publication, Enviance’s CEO and Founder, Lawrence Goldenhersh wrote how the technology brings power to the customer -- exploding the software vendor's vice grip on the customer. Now, the customer is in the driver's seat. Prior to this technology, customers had no choice but to purchase software that didn't meet their needs. "Software as a Service" technology has finally put the choice, the flexibility, and the power where it belongs -- in the hands of customers.
And now this month, Phil Wainewright of ZDNET posted a blog on the same subject, echoing the accolades of this “on-demand” technology. According to Phil, there are many benefits from using the On-Demand model as opposed to the traditional Client/Server options. He outlines the top six characteristics of on-demand applications that make them superior to conventional packaged software: - Ready to Run.
- Pay as you go.
- Short learning curve.
- Codeless customization.
- Loosely coupled integration.
- Constant monitoring and feedback.
Ah, it’s nice to know that this technology is being embraced and revered by many experts as the latest and best in the market. And you might recall, IDC Corp predicts that by 2009, the global market for on demand software will be $10.7 billion, and by 2010 over 50% of the software purchased will be purchased using the on demand model. It's a great technology with an even better future.
Have a relaxing 3-day weekend.
