As I was thumbing through my Vogue magazine over the weekend keeping abreast of the latest fashions, I came across an article on climate change / global warming that I had to share with you. The article, "Force of Nature" outlined how Laurie David is on the campaign of her life: to save the world from global warming by raising interest across America. She’s engaged religious leaders, labor unions, elected officials from all sides of the aisle, business leaders, and every day Americans to urge the United States to address the ticking time bomb that is global warming.
There is one simple thing you can do – just sign yourself for the “Virtual March” – your email will represent a plea to our government to take a more active interest in saving the environment. Join today!
In addition to the Virtual March, Ms. David has produced several other projects that bring the issue of global warming into mainstream popular culture: 1. The comedy special, Earth to America! for TBS, the first cause oriented primetime special in a decade, which aired November 20, 2005 to millions of viewers and featured Tom Hanks, Will Ferrell, Steve Martin and Jack Black among many others
2. An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary film for Participant Productions based on former Vice President Al Gore’s thirty years of research on global warming, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will be in theaters this spring
3. An HBO documentary called Too Hot Not to Handle on the effects of global warming in the United States, airing on HBO April 22, 2006 Miss David also was featured on Oprah talking about global warming solutions, along with Leonardo DiCaprio and scientist Michael Oppenheimer; and she consulted and appeared on the groundbreaking Fox News one hour special The Heat is On, which aired in primetime on Sunday, November 13, 2005.
