Software as a Service (SaaS) Leads Environmental Compliance Efforts

Why you should consider purchasing software as a service (SaaS) for environmental compliance

Software as a Service (SaaS) has received a lot of press and buzz in the past few years.  Of course we love it, as Enviance offers software as a service for companies wanting to track their environmental compliance endeavors.

Business Week's Jeffrey Kaplan wrote a great article on the top 8 myths surrounding Software as a Service (SaaS) and why you should consider purchasing this new breed of Web-based software.

As you read the myths below, keep in mind that the Enviance SaaS System has been deployed at 750 facilities in over 55 companies for environmental compliance solutions.  Our customers, representing companies from DuPont, Chevron, Valero Refining (California), Southern Company, Aliant, all gave great demonstrations at Enviance’s annual user group meeting, “Envision”.  Email me for copies of these presentations – they were really amazing.

Top 8 Software as a Service (SaaS) Myths

Myth #1:  SaaS is still relatively new and untested.

Myth #2:  SaaS is just another version of the failed application service   provider, or ASP, and hosting models of the past, and will suffer the same fate as its predecessors.

Myth #3:  SaaS only relieves companies of the up-front costs of traditional software licenses.

Myth #4:  SaaS is only for small- and midsize businesses and will not be accepted by large-scale organizations.

Myth #5:  SaaS only applies to applications such as customer relationship management and salesforce automation.

Myth #6:  SaaS will only have a minor impact on the software industry and will fade over time.

Myth #7:  It will be easy for the established software vendors to offer SaaS and dominate this market.

Myth #8:  SaaS is only for corporate users.
