Toxic Mercury Pollution Control in Question

Petition filed against the EPA challenging toxic mercury pollution from coal-fired power plants

What do the following states have in common?  California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island Vermont and Wisconsin.

If you said they were the 16 states that filed a petition in federal court challenging EPA’s approach to control toxic mercury pollution from coal-fired power plants, then you’d be correct (and a bit nerdy).

The states argue that EPA’s rules would delay meaningful emission reductions, perpetuate hot spots of local mercury deposition and pose a serious public health threat to the unborn, young children and other vulnerable populations.
