| | | October 27, 2006 | | Debate for and against Prop 87 that taxes the oil industry is highlighted on CNBC video clip |
November 7 should be an interesting day as voters in California go to the polls to decide on Prop 87. If passed, the bill would tax oil companies drilling for crude in California and the money gleaned from these companies – an estimated 4 billion in the next 10 years – would go towards research for alternative energies. CNBC had a great video about this issue. Yusef Robb (Pro Prop 87) and Jerry Taylor, a Senior Fellow at the CATO Institute (Against Prop 87), provide insight on both sides of the issue. If you are voting in the great state of California, I highly recommend you listen in; it’s well worth it. by Erin Swanson ESwanson@enviance.com | | |
