Global Warming, Environment Matter to Voters

Post-election polling results reveal global warming and the environment matter to voters

Recent results from a non-partisan polling firm, Zogby’s, refuted earlier news from a conservative think tank that less than 3% of Americans voted on global warming and other matters involving the environment.

Zogby surveyed over 19K Americans who voted in the mid-term elections and found some fascinating results:

  • 58% of voters agreed their elected officials “should make a combating global warming a high priority
  • 75% of voters said “Congress should pass legislation promoting renewable and alternative energy sources an effective way to reduce global warming pollution”.

In other words, voters understand and accept the threat of global warming and politicians who ignore such environmental concerns do so at their own peril.
