Public Outcry to Save the Polar Bear from Global Warming

Half a million emails sent to save the polar bear from global warming

It was announced this week by the Fish and Wildlife Services that they received over 500,000 comments in support of listing the polar bear on the endangered species list because their habitat is being destroyed by global warming.  And that was just the emails.  I guess the office in Alaska is collapsing under tons of snail mail they’ve gotten as well.

According to Environmental Action, the Fish and Wildlife Service got more comments on the polar bear than on any other listing since the Endangered Species Act went into effect almost 35 years ago.  Just goes to show you how popular the polar bear really is – the species set a record!

The final ruling isn’t until January 2008, but I’m encouraged by this news.
