|  | | May 15, 2007 | | James Hansen believes scientists have an obligation to speak out about their findings on climate change | NASA’s top climate expert, James Hansen, became a household name last year when he told The New York Times that the Bush administration was trying to silence him for his claims about climate change and our need to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. During a recent trip to Seattle, Hansen dropped by Grist’s headquarters to speak about the growing urgency on global warming, why a molecule of CO2 from coal is worse than a molecule of CO2 from oil, and what we need to do to get the climate crisis under control.
