| | | December 10, 2007 | | ASTM has developed a new cyanide testing standard for water samples. | Water samples are routinely analyzed for cyanide content, but have a history of improper sample collection and treatment, which could potentially lead to permit violations or the release of cyanide into the environment. Because of this, ASTM has developed D 7365: Practice for Sampling, Preservation, and Mitigating Interferences in Water Samples for Analysis of Cyanide.
This new standard will supersede previous guidance in this area, and the Clean Water Act methods group at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency expects to reference this standard on their methods web page as a useful source of information. | | |
