Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) uses Mobile Technology with their EMIS Compliance Data

PG&E early adopter of EMIS mobile access technology and expects increased efficiency

Pacfic Gas & Electric (PG&E) recently announced that their Environmental Support and Services team has deployed mobile access (via PDA) into their Environmental Management Information System (EMIS). They are using the technology for compliance assessments, regulatory inspections and materials releases.

With the availability of the EMIS interface via mobile computing platforms, personnel can monitor and act on compliance events in the field, in real-time.

Benefits of mobile access to compliance data include:

  • Easier and simpler data entry for field observations
  • Enhanced data integrity through real-time, paperless transactions
  • Reduced site-time for field personnel
  • Improved field documentation of agency inspection, incident and accident investigations, and materials release information
  • Rapid identification of corrective actions taken in the field
