Does the Hummer H1 Contribute Most to Global Warming?

Pick your global warming battles carefully – Hummer H1 too easy of a target

There was much celebrating on the environmental blogs last week when GM announced the discontinuation of its Hummer H1 Series.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m all for eliminating vehicles that get 10 miles to the gallon and contribute most to global warming. However, of all the vehicles to attack, the H1 seems too easy of a target and one that should be ignored by environmental groups. Instead of focusing on the ueber-rich who can afford the $140,000 H1 price tag, why not go after middle American housewives who drive Chevy Suburban’s? There are far more people driving these traditional SUV gas hogs than the H1. And when grouped together, the emissions from all SUVs and full-sized trucks minus the H1 contribute most to global warming.

A word to the wise environmental fighter: Pick your battles carefully and don’t waste your time with the H1 crowd. They are too few to count.
