Imagine you are a penguin floating happily on the Antarctica ice with not a care in the world. And then one day you wake up from a nice ice sleep and find yourself in Brazil. Yeah, you read that right. Brazil. How traumatizing must have this been for the cute, flightless birds? Apparently the Antarctica glaciers are melting at an alarming rate due to global warming, endangering penguins and other wildlife’s habitats.
The 100+ birds will be flown to Brazil’s southernmost region and then taken by ship back to their Antarctic home.
Penguins stranded on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro will hitch a ride back home to Antarctica with Brazil's air force and navy, Reuters news agency reports.
