Action for Climate Change Doubles for Business Coalition

12 major companies join USCAP to combat Climate Change

Breaking news from Environmental Defense:  12 major companies including General Motors, Shell, and AIG joined the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP) to combat climate change

The addition of General Motors is seen by many observers as particularly significant, because trucks and automobiles account for roughly 20% of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of this announcement, these companies pledge to support national legislation to reduce America's global warming pollution by 60-80% by 2050.

With today's additions, the number of companies in USCAP more than doubles to 22. Together, these companies represent $1.67 trillion in annual revenues and employ more than two million people in all 50 states.

Congratulations to Environmental Defense, as they played a major role in founding the USCAP and in their fight against global warming.
