Honda breaks with auto industry by calling for emissions trading in the fight against climate change

The American Honda Motor Company, in a surprise move last week, called on the federal government to create a special carbon credit program <a href="http://insidegreenbusiness.com/index.php/igb/show/honda_breaks_with_auto_industry_by_calling_for_emissions_trading_program/"></a>for automobile emissions to combat climate change.  The company's proposal <a href="http://insidegreenbusiness.com/index.php/igb/show/504"></a>is the “lone wolf” stand against greenhouse gas emissions for the auto industry.  It is directly at odds with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers – a group who’s trying to block consideration of climate change policies by an Environmental Protection Agency advisory committee reviewing overall air quality programs.  Alliance members include Ford, DaimlerChrysler, BMW, GM, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Mazda, and Porsche.  Honda is not a member of the alliance.  According to a recent statement by Honda, “Honda firmly believes that climate change needs to be addressed at the federal level.
