Pick your global warming battles carefully – Hummer H1 too easy of a target

There was much celebrating on the environmental blogs last week when <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12758767/">GM announced</a> the discontinuation of its Hummer H1 Series. Don’t get me wrong – I’m all for eliminating vehicles that get 10 miles to the gallon and contribute most to global warming. However, of all the vehicles to attack, the H1 seems too easy of a target and one that should be ignored by environmental groups. Instead of focusing on the ueber-rich who can afford the $140,000 H1 price tag, why not go after middle American housewives who drive Chevy Suburban’s? There are far more people driving these traditional SUV gas hogs than the H1.
